This is the state of our living room right now. We were going to paint last weekend, but after my sleepless night and Dan having to work very late Friday night, we didn't get as far as we liked. Between Dan having to work a bit at home, me getting ready for camp, three "graduations", various end-of-school parties, and my attempt to finish the book for the book club I'm hosting, our painting prep is going pretty slow. But the kids love the new couch arrangement. They have been taking turns sleeping on it:

I'm so proud of myself that I remembered on my own to do this! I got about 1 hour of sleep last night, so maybe that's the secret. We'll see how weird my answers might be:

Wow, I did that pretty fast for me. The only one that took me a while was the favorite board game. There are a lot of good ones like Trivial Pursuit, Tribond, Apples to Apples, etc. I only hate Monopoly.

Perhaps you have been blinded my my new background color. I have a million and one things to do, so of course I sat down and started messing with my blog. I know it is not as beautiful as everyone else's blog, but I don't have the technical skills for anything fancy, and I'm usually pretty happy with simplicity. (Plus this only took me about three minutes.) I'm just not sure about yellow yet. Maybe I need to add Coldplay's song "Yellow" to make it complete. I guess I had better get back to work, or at least take a nap so the machine that is "I" can run more efficiently. I just needed a little bit of dead brain time (or brain dead time?).
1. Becoming a grandmother is high up on my bucket list. (But not in the next 10 years)

2. Figure out a way to keep the refrigerator organized. I could blame it on the kids, but I'm guilty too. (If anyone has any tips, let me know)
3. Keep a dish-towel available at all times by the kitchen sink. (I tend to use a dishtowel just a couple of times, and then it grosses me out so I put it out in the dirty rag basket in the garage without getting a new one. This drives Dan crazy, so I'm trying to make his life a little more pleasant.)

I went to IKEA the other day (I had to take Kaylynn to a birthday party at the beach, and I thought I should make the gas expenditure more worthwhile) and I bought a funnel set, a star ice-cube tray, a set of 3 cork trivets, a strainer, a set of little bowls for ice-cream, a couple of pairs of rubber gloves, a set of tealights, a silver planter, a box of cookies, and a bottle of sparkling juice. It was fun, but stupid because it aggravated my foot problems.

On Saturday Dan and I went to the "Great Taste," a fundraiser for the police and firefighters where you pay $20 and eat samples from various restaurants in the area. Of course the only reason we went was to support those who provide for our safety, not because of the delicious food or anything. I forgot my camera, but Dan took a couple of pictures of me eating with his phone, but I didn't even bother to look at them because eating pictures are never good. So I scanned the list of participating restaurants and the foods they offered. (It's pretty blurry, just click it to see it better.) I was so disappointed in the capacity of my stomach! I envisioned myself trying it all, but after about six places I felt like another bite would result in throwing up! Dan and I took a little break after that to digest, and then tried a few more places, where I could only take a few bits from each. I circled the foods we tried, and the others will just have to remain a mystery. If we do this again, next time I will prioritize, because I definitely could have done without Sizzler! I would have liked to have tried the sushi and oysters, but I knew if I tried those on a full stomach, it would not be good!! My favorites were Mi Tortilla's cheese enchilada, Mimi's artichoke dip, Super Suppers' artichoke dip, and BJ's mini pizookie.
